Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 30, 2026
Short version
The free WakeUpBroo experience runs entirely on your device. We don't use accounts, analytics, or ads. The only data that ever leaves your device is what's required to handle WakeUpBroo Pro subscriptions through the Apple App Store. Details below.
What the app does
WakeUpBroo is an alarm clock that you dismiss by scanning a QR code. The QR code is displayed on this website (wakeupbroo.com/code) or on any screen you choose to keep away from your bed. Scanning the code with the app's camera dismisses the alarm.
Permissions we request and why
- Camera — Used only to scan the QR code that dismisses your alarm. The camera is activated only when an alarm is ringing and you open the dismiss screen. No images, video, or frames are stored, uploaded, or transmitted anywhere. The camera feed stays on your device and is discarded as soon as a valid code is detected.
- Notifications — Required to fire alarms at the scheduled time. Notifications stay on your device.
- AlarmKit — Required so your alarms fire reliably even when iPhone is on silent or in Do Not Disturb. We only use AlarmKit to schedule and present the alarms you create.
- Time-sensitive notifications — Required so the alarm interface can break through Focus modes when your alarm goes off.
- Background audio — Required to keep alarm audio playing reliably until you dismiss it, even if the app is in the background.
What we don't collect
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, location, photos, audio recordings, or any other personally identifying information. We do not run analytics or crash reporting inside the app. We do not show ads. There is no user account to sign up for.
Data on your device
The app stores your alarm times, labels, ringtones, and preferences locally on your device using standard iOS storage. This data never leaves your device. If you uninstall the app, this data is deleted.
Subscription data (WakeUpBroo Pro)
If you subscribe to WakeUpBroo Pro, two third parties are involved in handling your purchase:
- Apple App Store processes the payment and manages the subscription (free trial, renewals, cancellations, refunds) through StoreKit. Apple receives your payment information directly — we never see or store your card details. Apple's handling of this data is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat validates your purchase and tracks your subscription status so the app knows whether to unlock Pro features. RevenueCat receives a randomly generated anonymous user ID (not linked to any personal information), your purchase history, and basic diagnostic info such as app version and OS version. Their processing is covered by RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
We use this data only to deliver the subscription you paid for. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or sold to anyone.
If you only use the free tier of WakeUpBroo, no subscription data is created and none of this section applies to you.
Data deletion
On-device data is deleted automatically when you uninstall the app. For full details on what we hold and how to request deletion of your subscription data, see our Data Deletion page. You can also manage and cancel subscriptions directly from your Apple ID subscription settings on iPhone.
Website analytics
This website (wakeupbroo.com) uses Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics tool, to count page views. Umami does not use cookies and does not collect any personally identifiable information. This analytics applies to the website only, not the app.
Children's privacy
WakeUpBroo is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
